Ash Vacuum Cleaner

What To Consider When Buying An Ash Vacuum Cleaner

An ash vacuum cleaner comes in handy, but there are so many brands that market these types of vacs. Before you start shopping around for one, you'll want to consider a few things. Some of these things include:

The Amount Of Ash You'll Collect
Take a look at the amount of ash that accumulates in your wood stove, fireplace and so forth. This can help you figure out what kind of capacity the vacuum should have. If you notice that a lot of ash accumulates, then you're best bet is to buy a large model. Sure, they cost a bit more than models that are smaller and have a small capacity, but they are worth the money.

However, if you don't need to pick up a lot of ash, then go ahead and buy a smaller vac. Different vacs have different capacities. Keep that in mind and you'll have an easier time choosing a vac.

Cold Or Hot Ash
Another thing to consider is whether or not you will use the ash vacuum cleaner to pick up cold ash or hot ash because some vacs are designed to solely pick up hot ash. These types of vacs will be equipped with hoses that are heat resistant and have metal tanks. Usually this is the case, but not always.

There are also vacs designed for cold ash only. It's up to you to decide whether or not you want to clean the ash as soon as you're done with the stove, fireplace etc. . . or wait a bit until the ash becomes cold. When you have an idea of what you'll be doing, then you can choose the right vacuum.

How Will You Dispose Of The Ash
How will you dispose of the ash because this is important. Generally speaking, vacs will either be equipped with a bag or they will be bag-less, which means you dispose of the ash later on. With a bag, you just take it out and dispose of it accordingly.

There are both pros and cons of both types of vacs, but generally speaking you should choose a vac with a bag if you don't really want to engage much with the ash. As for price, the vacs vary, regardless if they have bags or no bags. It really comes down to personal preference.

Ease Of Use
Not all vacs operate in the same manner, even though they all are designed to pick ash up. You want to choose a vac that has a tank that isn't that difficult to clean and it should be equipped with wheels and be lightweight. You don't want to choose a vac that is extremely difficult to handle because the chances are you'll stop using it shortly after buying it. The easier a vacuum is to handle, the better.

Price
Finally, consider the price but do bear in mind the above considerations are even more important than price. You want to find a vac that gives you a lot for your money and one that will last for a longtime to come. Decide what your budget is and then you can start looking for vacs that fall within your budget.

When it comes to buying an ash vacuum cleaner, you want to consider the amount of ash that you will collect. Make sure to consider whether you need a vac for hot or cold ash, as well as how you'll dispose of the ash and ease of use. Remember, compare as many vacs as you can and then decide which one you should go with, but make sure price isn't the sole determining factor. There are more important things to consider besides price.
